What began as a simple kitchen renovation unfolded into something much more personal. Early in our conversations, my clients shared the real pain points in their home—the way hosting bottlenecked at the front door, how a talented home chef was working from two tiny slivers of countertop, and how a space meant to gather their community just wasn’t supporting the way they live.

This family is a beacon for the people around them. Their home is where music is made, faith is nurtured, hospitality is extended, and light—literal and symbolic—fills the room. So when the husband told me his dream was to give his wife a kitchen with “all the light in the world,” that became our north star.

To bring that vision to life, we opened walls and reconfigured windows and doors to welcome in as much natural light as possible, then reimagined the layout with intention and flow at the forefront: dedicated zones for cooking, prep, serving, and clean-up; a dishes-and-buffet area designed for big gatherings; and a quiet morning nook carved out just for him—an introvert’s refuge with views of nature.

In the end, we weren’t just renovating a kitchen—we were carving out a space that reflects the way this family gathers, gives, and shines—a truly joyful House of Light.
